Sharrah Dunlap Sawyer, Inc. (SDS) provided all of the project management for the preparation of construction documents for the 140 million dollar manufacturing plant in the City of Shasta Lake, California.
SDS, involvement began during the site selection phase with preparation of several schematic layouts of the plant on the site. After the site was selected, the project team assisted the owner in obtaining related governmental agency permits and provided the construction documents for all of the site work and the majority of the building construction.
Civil design for the 100-acre site included grading, storm drainage, storm water detention, an internal looped fire water system for the site with a 250,000 gallon water tank, reclaimed water for use in the processing plant and irrigation, incorporation of a back-up water supply from the local city water department, as well as an inter-city water connection between the City of Shasta Lake and City of Redding. Also included was a railroad spur into the site and roadway designs both for the road leading from I-5 (two miles away) and upgrades for the street fronting the property.
SDS was involved in all aspects of the land surveying and construction staking for the project from boundary and topographic surveys, to clearing, underground utilities, grading, buildings, rails spur and finished concrete staking.
SDS provided foundation design for and coordinated the design of approximately 500,000-sq.ft. of metal building. We also designed a concrete tilt-up fire separation wall and foundations for equipment designed by KCI. We coordinated the design of a post-tensioned slab in the warehouse and performed structural calculations for the 172’ tall, 34’ x 68’ slip-formed concrete batch house. With our consultants we provided complete architectural, mechanical, and electrical design of the 14,000-sq. ft. office. |
