Cypress Plaza consists of 1-three story, 40,400 SF building and 1-single story, 4,400 SF office building located at the northeast corner of Cypress Avenue and Civic Center Drive across the street from the Redding City Hall. The multi-story building will contain retail stores on the main floor and professional office space on the upper two stories. Parking is situated to the north and east of the buildings adjacent to Calaboose Creek. A portion of the creek is enclosed in a box culvert but several hundred feet of the open channel will remain open having been cleaned of urban refuse and debris. There are a number of trees that remain, including a 54” oak tree, to shade the creek for the benefit of fish and other aquatic critters. The project has a pedestrian plaza including public sitting areas, special paving, raised planter beds and decorative lighting. An arched roof encompasses the area between the two buildings which provides an effective visual path from the public road to the entries into the shops and offices.
Sharrah Dunlap Sawyer's involvement with this project included: conceptual site planning, use permit preparation and processing, civil design, landscape and irrigation design, construction documents and construction staking. |
