It's no secret that the green energy industry is growing larger than it ever has before, with no sign of stopping in the near future. Sharrah Dunlap Sawyer is proud to be involved in local green energy projects and we are constantly seeking ways to implement eco-friendly options where possible. SDS is working with several clients on green energy projects in Northern California including wind energy, solar energy, and biomass projects.
SDS is provides many services for our green energy projects, including but not limited to: Ownership, transportation, and feasibility studies; transportation routing; topographic surveys & mapping; ALTA surveys; Meteorological tower permitting; cost estimates; civil design documents; structural design; grading permits and use permits; photo simulations; inventory surveys; and construction staking.
Hatchet Ridge Wind Farm is a 101-Megawatt wind project on Hatchet Mountain in Shasta County, 212 miles north of Sacramento. The 44-turbine facility by Pattern Energy Group LP was constructed in one year and represents the only large-scale wind project to become active in California during 2010. The project provides clean and renewable energy to 44,000 houses in California.
SDS prepared the pre- and post-construction ALTA surveys, topographic maps, phase 1 environmental assessments, design and construction documents for 13 miles of access road, meteorological tower foundation designs, and the SWPPP. In addition, we assisted with obtaining state and federal environmental permits and federal environmental permits and provided construction staking.
We are working with Enel Green Power North America on the Timber Hills Project. Timber Hills is a wind energy project that would be located outside of Burney, California. Once constructed, the 138-megawatt facility would have up to 60 turbines and be able to provide power to approximately 41,000 homes.
This project is still in the earliest stages of development. For more information on the project overview, history, and frequently asked questions, please visit Enel Green Power North America's webpage below.

The Bear River Ridge Wind Project is proposed to have up to 25 turbines located in Humboldt County, California. It is estimated that the project would generate from 50 to 75 megawatts of electricity.
SDS is working with Shell Wind Energy on the project. It is still in the early stages of development and currently the focus is on transportation logistics and visual impact. For more information about the project, please visit Shell's project page below.
